In the Distant NEAG Meeting 2nd July 2011

North East Area Group meeting information.
Saturday 2nd July 2011
Saint Barnabas Church Hall, Bournmoor.
Time - Please Note 2.00pm – 5.00pm. (approx.)

The next area group meeting is a ‘bumper affair’ with our meeting on Saturday followed by a
day out on the Sunday, of which more in a separate posting. At our last meeting five members started building plastic points and made really good progress too. This time this process can continue and those who wanted to build a point last time but for one reason or another couldn’t are invited to bring along the wherewithal and start this time. All who did commence the project were pleased with the progress that was made and although it definitely is not the same as having a complete eight hour day workshop it was good to see the enthusiasm of those who took the opportunity to take those first steps and I feel it was rewarded by having something to take away with them and which they can continue with this time. Anyone who has managed to get somewhere close to completion in the interim is invited to bring along what has been achieved and show everyone else the progress.

Because of the way things are working out we will not be able to have a meeting in August and the first available date on which we can again meet in the church hall will be Saturday 1st October. In the meantime however we have a very much publicised RailexNE on 27th & 28th August 2011 at The Parks Sports Centre, Howdon Road, North Shields, NE29 6TL. The venue is easy to find and is only about five minutes North of the Tyne Tunnel. Wansbeck Road, Fence Houses, Percy Nook and the 2mm Road Show will all be appearing so amongst other things it’s a feast of 2mm modelling not to be missed. This is the first major exhibition to which Bob and his team have taken Fence Houses with it in a fairly advance state. Oddly enough this was probably the only available date I could pick for the August meeting. So kill two birds with one stone and come along to the show which will effectively count as our meeting since a number of group members are involved and many others will be heading that way at some time over the weekend. Three 2mm fine scale layouts in one place at a major show can’t be missed. Before that I hope to see you all on Saturday the 2nd for the next point building session.
